People ask me for my Rome recommendations more than anywhere else: where to stay, where to eat, and how to avoid feeling rushed. This guide isn’t about seeing everything. It’s about experiencing Rome in a way that feels intentional, balanced, and genuinely enjoyable.
If you’re looking for more structure, I’ve also shared a Three Day Rome Itinerary and my Rome Google Map with all the places mentioned below - something you can save and use as you plan and wander.
WHERE TO STAY
There are plenty of options for hotels and AirBNBs in Rome. For a quick visit, stay in the city center near the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, or Piazza Navona. Close to the Colosseum, the Monti neighborhood is more relaxed, local vibe with trendy shops and cool cafes. Trastevere is also a charming neighborhood known for its winding streets, local restaurants, and nightlife.

HOW MANY DAYS?
3 to 5 days is ideal to explore Rome.
3 days: hit the major highlights (Colosseum, Vatican, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain) and explore a neighborhood like Trastevere.
5 days gives you more time to dive deeper into hidden gems like the Borghese Gallery, Appian Way, and maybe take a day trip to Tivoli, Orvieto, or Assisi.
